Green Edge 360: Now Rated Dermatest Excellent
Dermatologically Tested. Independently Verified. What Our Dermatest® Seal Means.
Green Edge 360 Forest Fresh Laundry Detergent Sheets and Forest Fresh Scent Booster have been independently dermatologically tested by Dermatest® and awarded the Dermatest® Guarantee Seal.
For us, the value of independent testing is not simply displaying a certification mark. It gives customers access to evidence about how a product was assessed and what the results actually mean.
Dermatest® has also listed Green Edge 360 in its independent reference database, allowing customers to verify the tested products and testing method directly with the institute.
Who Is Dermatest®?
Dermatest® is an independent dermatological research and testing institute that has been assessing products that come into contact with the skin since 1978.
The institute carries out a range of testing including safety assessments, dermatologically supervised patch tests, application studies and laboratory analysis.
Dermatest explains that products carrying its seal have successfully completed a defined dermatological testing procedure. For consumers, the seal provides independent information about skin compatibility under the conditions in which the product was tested.
How Were Green Edge 360 Products Tested?
The Dermatest® reference record for Green Edge 360 provides unusually clear information about the testing procedure used for our Forest Fresh Laundry Detergent Sheets and Forest Fresh Scent Booster.
Green Edge 360 Dermatest® test summary
- Test method: Epicutaneous patch testing under dermatological control
- Participants: 30 subjects with various skin types
- Exposure: Product applied under occlusive conditions for 24 hours
- Assessment: Skin examined before testing and again 24, 48 and 72 hours after application
- Result: No irritative skin reactions were observed among the test subjects during the study
- Seal awarded: Dermatest® Guarantee Seal
This is more informative than simply saying that a product is "dermatologically tested". It tells customers how the testing was conducted, the number of people involved and how long reactions were monitored.
What Is a Dermatest® Patch Test?
Dermatest uses patch testing to assess skin tolerability and irritation potential.
In a standard patch test, a product is applied to the skin under controlled conditions. Dermatest explains that occlusive application intensifies contact between the test substance and the skin, providing a structured way of assessing whether irritation occurs.
The skin is then assessed at defined intervals by trained professionals under dermatological control.
Dermatest states that its Guarantee Seal requires successful completion of its patch-test requirements, including testing on at least 30 subjects without adverse reactions.
What Does the Result Mean for Customers?
The most accurate way to describe the result is that the tested Green Edge 360 products demonstrated good skin compatibility under the conditions of the Dermatest® study.
Dermatest's published Green Edge 360 record states that no participant showed irritative skin reactions during the study and concludes that the tested products do not have high irritation potential when properly used.
For customers, this provides independent reassurance that goes beyond a manufacturer making its own skin-compatibility claim.
What the Dermatest® Seal Does — and Does Not — Mean
Transparency is important, so it is equally useful to explain what dermatological certification does not mean.
A Dermatest® Guarantee Seal does not mean that every individual is guaranteed never to experience sensitivity or an allergic response. People's skin, allergies and sensitivities differ.
Dermatest itself explains that skin compatibility relates to the results observed under the defined test conditions, and that its seal does not replace individual medical advice.
Customers with known allergies or particular sensitivities should still check product ingredients and follow the usage instructions provided.
Dermatest® Guarantee Seal vs 5-Star Seal
Dermatest offers different seals depending on the type and extent of testing carried out.
Green Edge 360's Forest Fresh Laundry Detergent Sheets and Scent Booster received the Dermatest® Guarantee Seal following successful dermatologically supervised patch testing.
This is different from Dermatest's 5-Star Seal, which relates to longer-term application studies. Dermatest explains that 5-Star testing generally involves at least 20 participants using a product for at least four weeks on the intended area of application.
Making this distinction helps customers understand exactly which assessment Green Edge 360 completed rather than treating every Dermatest seal as the same.
Why We Chose Independent Testing
Laundry products ultimately come into contact with fabrics worn close to the skin every day — from clothing and school uniforms to bedding and towels.
That is why we believe claims about skin compatibility should be supported wherever possible by independent assessment rather than marketing language alone.
Dermatest® testing forms one part of Green Edge 360's wider approach to independent product evaluation.
Our laundry range has also received Good Housekeeping Institute Approved status following independent product assessment. You can read more about the Good Housekeeping testing and approval process in our Good Housekeeping Institute Approved article.
